Get together with the fam

On Saturday we had a little surprise get-together for my cousin Hina because sis turned 30!!! We went full throwback mode and celebrated the only way our crazy family knows how — by watching all our childhood favorites.

The first movie we put on was Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and honestly… I don’t know why this movie had such a chokehold on us growing up, but we were OBSESSED. Like, still-know-all-the-words-and-the-dance-moves obsessed. We were acting like we were right back in the living room at Papa and Grams’ house. It was such a vibe.

Then we watched To Wong Fu and Sister Act 2… classics. The kind of movies that make you feel like you’re 12 again with zero responsibilities except remembering the lyrics to “Joyful, Joyful.”

I made Watermelon Shoju too and let me just say… die-licious and absolutely dangerous because it tasted like straight juice. Talk about waking up in the middle of the night bumping into walls on my way to the bathroom because I was still intoxicated. Next time I know better… maybe.

But honestly, the best part wasn’t even the movies or the drinks — it was just being surrounded by the people I love and who love me back. I’m so grateful for how close I am with my cousins, and even more grateful that our kids are growing up the same way we did. That tight-knit, ride-or-die family bond? It’s everything.
